Brucellosis with p-ANCA-associated renal failure, leukocytoclastic vasculitis and endocarditis: Case report

چکیده
The relationship between brucellosis and p-antinuclear cytoplasmic antibody (p-ANCA)-associated vasculitis (pAAV) is a rare condition. Herein, we report a 52-year-old man who was diagnosed as rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) and endocarditis due to brucellosis. He was treated with antimicrobial agents, steroids, plasmapheresis, renal replacement therapy and aortic valve replacement. According to our best of knowledge, no similar case has been reported previously in the literature in regard to p-ANCA anti-lactoferrin antibodies associated-glomerulonephritis with brucellosis and endocarditis. Infective endocarditis mimics ANCA associated glomerulonephritis
Background: Sub-acute bacterial endocarditis (SBE) rarely presents with features of a small vessel vasculitis. Patients with SBE can also develop multiple serological abnormalities including ANCA. In this report, we present a case of infective endocarditis mimicked ANCA associated glomerulonephritis.Case presentation: A 57-year old male with a clinical picture of rapidly progressive renal failu...
متن کاملANCA-associated pauci-immune glomerulonephritis in a patient with bacterial endocarditis: a challenging clinical dilemma
PURPOSE We report the case of a 59-year-old man with chronic hepatitis B and C infection presenting with acute kidney injury and enterococcus faecalis-infective endocarditis (IE). An elevated proteinase-3 (PR3)-ANCA and pauci-immune glomerulonephritis (GN) on renal biopsy were discovered, corresponding to ANCA-mediated GN. We conducted a literature review to assess the role of ANCA in IE and tr...
متن کاملLeukocytoclastic vasculitis and interstitial nephritis with carbimazole treatment.
Carbimazole is a common treatment for hyperthyroidism in the UK. Its main side effects include a rash, agranulocytosis and rarely a lupus-like syndrome. Although vasculitis associated with antineutrophil anticytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) has been reported on several occasions following treatment with propylthiouracil, vasculitis with carbimazole appears to be less common. We report a case of le...
متن کاملBrucella peritonitis and leucocytoclastic vasculitis due to Brucella melitensis.
Brucellosis is a multisystemic disease that rarely leads to a fatal outcome. While reticuloendothelial system organs are mostly affected, peritonitis and posthepatitic cirrhosis are also complications of brucellosis, though they are very rare. Brucella spp. can also trigger immunological reactions. We report a case of brucellosis with peritonitis, renal failure and leucocytoclastic vasculitis c...
متن کاملBenzylthiouracil-Induced Glomerulonephritis
Vasculitis is a rare complication of antithyroid drugs (ATDs). It was first described with Propylthiouracil (PTU). We report a new case of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) vasculitis with glomerulonephritis induced by Benzylthiouracile (BTU). A 50-year-old man with Graves disease treated with BTU developed general malaise and haematuria without skin rash or respiratory involvement. La...
